ONLINE READING RESOURCES

The internet is jammed full of reading resources from simple children's stories to complex dry academic readings. We want to provide you with a wide range of choices. Here are a few samples you may want to try.
Some people don't want to be seen reading children's books, but relax, you are online. Your friends can't see what you're reading now. One of my favorite ways to practice Chinese is to read books together with my cross-cultural kids. It's also a little embarrassing when I find words in children's Chinese books that I have to look up in my dictionary. But, that's when I realize I need to put away my pride and read my kids' books. After all, if I cannot understand simple children's stories, my my Chinese really needs help. Perhaps you should try some children's English stories.
Here are some great samples of links from other websites:
  •   Little Red Riding Hood (Chinese students sometimes call this "The Girl with a Red Hat.)
  • The Three Pigs, a short story read by every child in English speaking countries.
  • Pinocchio, a classic even adults enjoy reading.
  • Grandma's Tea Cup and Taylor's Pond are very short stories, on Word documents rather than PDF, but very enjoyable stories.
  • The Final Deception, is not a little kid's book, but it is for teens and young adults.
  • Echo Mountain is a favorite of middle school children through young adults.
