The obvious first step to going abroad, assuming you've already studied the language and culture, is to obtain a visa to entry a country. There are many kinds of visas and each country has its own criteria for granting visas.
Since the requirements for a visa are different in every country we cannot tell you everything you need to know. Before you begin your visa process, you need to carefully read the embassy website of the country for which you hope to visit. You can visit a website that lists all of the foreign embassies in China. Just click here to view that site.
If you're thinking about living abroad for the long term, it would be a good idea to research websites by overseas Chinese. You can view one overseas Chinese man's website by clicking here. It's in Chinese, so it won't help your English skills, but you will find his story quite interesting.
Chinese citizens line up at the American embassy in Beijing (pictures below) to apply for travel visas.
